Portrait Photography on Film
As a birth doula, I bear witness to the everyday yet profound changes that accompany every family's evolution. From one day to the next, nothing is quite the same; sometimes in unmistakable ways, and sometimes in blink-and-you'll-miss-it small ways.
I love photographing these moments in whatever shape they take; looking for the little details and moments of genuine connection that make people and relationships unique among all others.
My style is sophisticated yet earthy, soft yet intentional. I put a lot of heart and soul into everything I do, and love working with those who are about that life, too.

Photo Session Types
I shoot maternity, birth, newborn, family, and portrait sessions; as well as for small businesses focused on wellness and community-building.
I shoot in homes, at birthplaces, outdoors, in art, dance, or yoga studios, on boats, at stables, and beyond, mainly in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts.
Sessions are a half-hour minimum for individuals, couples, and families up to four people. One hour is the minimum for families of five or more and for small businesses.
All galleries are lightly and lovingly edited and sent within four weeks of each session.

Why film?
When it comes to photography, film is my medium of choice. There's nothing quite like it—the texture you can get from different film stocks, the warmth and atmosphere, the possibilities of double exposures, and happy accidents like the occasional light leak. There's something about the delayed gratification of actually SEEING the photos that reminds me of being a little kid on Christmas morning.
I've got an arsenal of film cameras to tote out depending on what vision we're shooting for. Some high-end, of course, but also some low-end to keep things loose and playful. If the process is fun, the end-result is sure to be, too.
Film is a beautiful and occasionally temperamental medium, so I always bring my digital camera along with me as an insurance policy to capture all the major beats of the shoot. That way, if there's an issue at the film lab or I can't get away with a hand-check at airport security, we have back-up.

The Process
The Who
Maybe it's the Virgo Rising in me, but I like to do a lot of planning ahead of time so that when a session rolls around, we can relax and enjoy it. The best plans are made the better I know you, so that we can create something that is truly authentic to your vibe and vision. That's where we begin!
We'll start by getting to know each other so everyone feels comfy come shoot day. We'll chat about all the details of what you want to accomplish with our session—your favorite imagery, what music puts you in the mood to be photographed, any special meaning you want to capture, what and who you love.
The Where & When
When it comes to our shoot location, the sky is the limit. I will shoot at any birthplace, home, studio, beach, mountain, city, country—wherever suits your preferences, wishes, dreams, and goals.
Natural light is my jam, so as far as scheduled shoots go, I prioritize the times of day when we'll get the best sun. These will vary by season, so we'll collaborate on timing to make sure we nail it. If we get a day with less optimal weather, don't sweat. I like to work with the circumstances we have rather than against them, so I'll whip out the right tools for the job!
Shoots requiring travel are quoted on a case by case basis, accounting for things like airfare, accommodation, and ground transport.
The Why / What You Receive
It is ALWAYS my goal to make a shoot as easy and enjoyable as it can possibly be, so you can look back on the moments captured with fondness for the time spent.
Within four weeks of the shoot, you will receive a beautiful online gallery of high resolution, edited JPG images—a minimum of 30 images for each hour we shoot—with a personal print release.
What's next?
Get in touch with me so we can start the conversation! If we're a match, I'll officially put you on my calendar once I've received your signed contract and retainer for services.
